GALLOWAY STUDENTS HAVE THE BEST MANNERS!

Smart students with excellent manners...have become the gold standard of a Galloway student. From the moment you enter the school you will witness good manners in action! Students greet adults with a hearty and warm "Good Morning!" or "Good Afternoon!", and address each adult by their appropriate title. If you hang out with us long enough, you will observee at least 35 other manners or rules of engagement of a Galloway student.

Each nine weeks, teachers and students at every grade level introduce and reinforce a "weekly" manner or rule to discuss and practice throughout the year. Take a look at the list of manners that will be developed in each student throughout the school year.

First Nine Weeks:

#1: Respond to an adult by saying, “Yes Ma’am,” “Not Sir.”

#2: Make eye contact when someone is speaking to you.

#3: If someone in the class does something well, congratulate them.

#4: During discussions, respect other students’ comments.

#5: If you win, do not brag.

#7: When you cough or sneeze or burp, turn your head and cover your mouth.

#8: Do not smack your lips, tsk, roll your eyes, or show disrespect with gestures.

#9: Always say thank you when someone else gives you something or does something nice for you.

#10: When you are given something from someone, never insult them by making negative comments.

Second Nine Weeks

#11: Surprise others by performing random acts of kindness.

#13: When we read together in class, you must follow along.

#14: Answer all questions with a complete sentence.

#16: Homework will be turned in each day for each subject.

#17: When we are moving from one class to another, the transition will be quiet and orderly.

#18: You will make every effort to be as organized as possible.

#19: When I assign homework, there is to be no moaning or complaining.

#20: While you are with a substitute teacher, you will obey the same rules that you follow when I am with you.

#21: We will follow certain classroom protocols.

Third Nine Weeks

#23: Quickly learn the names of other teachers and staff members.

#30: After we eat, we will clean up after ourselves.

#33: When we go on field trips, remember the names of our guides.

#34: Whenever you are offered food, never take more than your fair share.

#35: When someone drops something, pick it up and hand it back to them regardless of whether you are at school or on a trip.

#36: If you approach a door and someone is following you, hold the door.

#37: If we are on a field trip, compliment something about the place you are visiting.

Fourth Nine Weeks

#38: During an assembly do not speak and do not look around to get attention from others.

#44: When in line, walk quietly single file. Keep your hands and feet to yourself.

#45: Never cut in line.

#48: If any student in this school is bothering you, let me know.

#50: Be positive and enjoy life.

#51: Live so that you will never have regrets.

#52: Accept that you are going to make mistakes.
