Technology Applications PreK-5th Grade (Computer Lab Instruction)
The Digital Generation
The Digital Generation

Beginning in PreK-3, Galloway students receive formal technology application instruction during weekly sessions in the school's computer lab. In addition, skills acquired during technology class are applied in the regular classroom when students use their own mobile devices to navigate age-appropriate digital tools and create authentic products.

Technology Application curriculum has six strands based on the National Educational Technology Standards for Students (NETS•S) and performance indicators developed by the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE): creativity and innovation; communication and collaboration; research and information fluency; critical thinking, problem solving, and decision making; digital citizenship; and technology operations and concepts.

Through the study of the six strands in technology applications, students use creative thinking and innovative processes to construct knowledge and develop products. Upper grade students begin communicating and collaborating both locally and globally to reinforce and promote learning. Research and information fluency includes the acquisition and evaluation of digital content. The Galloway 1-1 Computing Environment is made possible through our cloud-based curriculum management program. Due to the fact that our digital learning platform is web-based, students in grades PreK (3) through the 8th grade are able to use their personal mobile devices regardless of operating system or model.

The Galloway School is "Leading the Way" in building a first rate 21st century curriculum infused with rich learning activities for today's digital natives. We are no longer waiting for our digital ship to come in. Instead, our vision is to partner with our parents in providing the technology that children are more than ready to use in their daily learning. The time is now to transform the way students acquire knowledge in their daily lessons. Our students are waiting for us to catch up in the area of technology.

Ms. Yolanda Garcia, Technology Application Instructor (PreK-3 - 5) and Mr. Cyril Noland, Network Administrator, have joined forces to provide a comprehensive technology curriculum that will ensure our students have the knowledge and skills that will give them a competitive edge now and in their future.
