Summer Reading 2014 – Incoming Second Grade
Wherever your summer adventures take you and your family, reading is a great way to beat the heat and relax as a family. So, don’t forget to pack a few tales, including that summer reading!
Second Grade Summer Reading Requirements
· Required: Choose three picture books AND two chapter books from the HAISLIN Reading List.
· Assignment: Video Book Talk- Complete the project detailed below on one of the selected summer reading books.
1. Create a short commercial. This commercial will be an oral book report no longer than two minutes.
2. Film your child using a device, such as an iPhone, iPad, or flip camera. Feel free to film on location from any vacation spot or home.
3. Please include the following in your report:
· Introduce yourself and the title of the book;
· Share what happened in the beginning, middle, and end of the book; and
· Give your opinion about why you liked, or disliked, the book.
4. Email the video clip to your teacher the first week of school. Videos will be shared with the class.
