Galloway Athletic Program

It has been proven that students who are involved in some type of athletic program or any group such as band or spirit clubs are children who are connected both inside and outside the classroom.  Students in athletic programs tend to attend school more than those who are not.  In most cases athletes graduate at a higher rate and score higher on standardized tests.  Schools that try to keep their students engaged in athletics or other programs tend to have fewer discipline referrals and tend to become contributing adult citizens.

The Galloway School offers several athletic programs consisting of: girls' volleyball, boys' basketball, boys' and girls' soccer, and this year we hope to offer a track program for both boys and girls. Skills, experience, teamwork, and sportsmanship are the focus of our program-not just winning. Students' Athletics are offered to students beginning at 5th grade, however, there may be an opportunity for some students in grades 3rd and 4th to play depending on skill level. Athletics is offered the last period of the student's day and may at times extend beyond regular school hours for games or practices.  After the season ends students remain in the physical education program for off-season training and conditioning.

Although athletics is a part of our curriculum, The Galloway School remains focused on a student's academic program. Students on any athletic team must hold a "C" or better average in all subjects. Should a player drop below this average he/she will be placed on probation until the average/s are brought up to meet the standards for playing athletics. The athletic progam isrelatively new to our school but has been very successful for the past two years.  We always welcome new students who would like to join the Galloway team.
