Go Owls!

It is a pleasure to look forward to coming to work everyday! The 2014-2015 school year begins my 36th year as a Texas Educator. I am a native Houstonian. Our family spent many weekends at our lakehouse on Lake Houston. Finally, in 1969, our family moved into our weekend home on the lake to make this our permanent residence. I was going into the 7th grade that year when I met my husband, Doyle Stroud. I was the new girl in school, and he knew I needed a friend. So, he came up to me in the cafeteria line, introduced himself, and began singing a love song to me. I fell in love with his Mississippi, baritone voice, and loved his bravery! Although we never dated in high school, he was always one of my favorite friends in school. It was 36 years after our high school graduation that we met up again, as singles, at a school reunion. The rest is history! We have so much in common, and share what spare time we have riding our Harley.

I received my Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education from Sam Houston State University in 1978. I have taught 18 years in both public and private schools. Additionally, I have served as an Assistant Principal, Principal, Director of Curriculum and Staff Development, Director of Curriculum and Assessment Services for Region 10 in Dallas, and Director of Marketing and Development for St. Thomas the Apostle Episcopal School in Nassau Bay. I received my Masters in Education from Stephen F. Austin State University in 1992 in secondary education with Mid-Management Certification in School Administration. I was a doctoral student at Baylor University in the field of Educational Administration. The highlight of my doctoral studies was a presentation I made in Beijing, China on Education Goals 2000.

I believe that teaching is a gift and one of the most honorable fields of service in society. Great teachers are life-changing and memorable! Although I do miss classroom teaching, I love working with teachers to provide amazing opportunities for the students who are blessed to be part of The Galloway School educational experience. The Galloway School is on the verge of making transformational changes in teaching and learning.

My vision as Assistant Head of School is to be a dynamic leader and collaborative partner with Miss Cerace in charting new paths, defining new standards of excellence, and creating an educational institution that attracts and retains great teachers, magnificent minds, and engaged parents. I am proud to join Miss Cerace and the amazing faculty and staff of The Galloway School on an amazing journey that clearly exceeds any educational experience in the Houston Bay Area!

Let's Roll!
